Image lingers on my DS long after powered off
Well I picked up an original DS at Goodwill for $5. It is pretty ugly as far as cosmetics go but the thing works great. The only problem is that once I turn the console off the image of the game I have been playing lingers on the screen for about 30 minutes after I turn it off. It doesn't interfere with the gameplay and if I turn the system right back on the previous image goes away. I was wondering if there was an explanation for this and if there is an easy fix or should I just live with it? Thanks!
I am buying all Saturn games, PM me with your offerings and I will let you know if I need the game or not! (Everything must be CIB)
Currently trying to knock off all the sports games, would like to get them <$5 each! Of course if you would like to donate them I will gladly pay the shipping!

I can't offer any information wrt repairs and whatnot, but what you describe is almost exactly what happens on my SwanCrystal handheld.
It's a little annoying but since it doesn't interfere with gameplay I tend to ignore it.
So yeah I guess just live with it.

DS screens use electrical charges to activate the crystals in the display to show colors which are then illuminated by the backlighting. Basically, your DS screen is just holding the 'charge' longer than it really should. I'm betting that when it does fade, it fades away in a kind of circular shape?
But yeah, this won't hurt your DS at all. A lot of the early 2000's and before handheld models had this type of thing.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

My lime & orange GBASP does this for a few seconds. My red and blue (currently dead
) ones do not. I've had old watches and solar calculators (remember those?) that would fade slowly too.
