original Xbox softmod, game compatibility

Post by fredthezombie »

Hi are there some games that don't always work when loaded from the hdd? I can't get Burnout 3 to go past the initial loading screen, could it be due to my hdd? I am still testing things with my stock 8 gb hdd, I plan on upgrading once I fiddle a bit more. Thanks :)

Good question. I'm not aware of a detailed compatibility list for this.

I've always been able to trial-and-error the region (default/auto/ntsc/pal) and soft-reset on the settings on Evo-x to get them going. Saves can affect it too - especially the ones for xbla. A different dashboard could possibly fix it. I've never seen a full list like Sksapps has for ps2 hdloader compatability, but isozone has a comments section under it's releases that has helped in the past. Probably the best active forum to consult too. Also good for xbla addons that aren't available anymore.

I just tried Burnout 3 on mine and it works flawlessly (awesome game too, that was my 1st time playing it :) , had the disc for years and just copied it to HDD recently).
The Dash I'm using is UnleashX

My problem is that I can't get JSRF / Sega GT 2002 combo to load at all, it just goes back to the dashboard. I even tried loading the individual game "xbe" files (bypassing the "default.xbe" file like you can do with so many other compilation releases)... Same sad story.
...just another lost soul...
