http://www.vgfive.com is/was a game trading site, created by a dissatisfied member of the team responsible for Goozex.com when the new owners exploited the hell out of it in an attempt to increase profits. VGFive used a similar trade system, but was created from scratch, using no assets from Goozex. However, unhappy with the competition, the Goozex owners threatened to sue, forcing the VGFive guys to either go broke defending their case or to sell. They sold, but VGFive seemed to be doing well. They ditched the queue system where you'd only get a game if you were currently first in line, which meant you'd have to wait unreasonably long for people to trade certain games in, and this also meant that game prices were determined by the system. They switched over to a user market, where people could competitively price their games, and users could choose who to buy from, with no more waiting in line. Starting today, VGFive appears to have gone down. I fear the owners may have decided to scrap the entire thing for not being profitable enough, with no warning, and no hope for users to be refunded. I only had $10 worth of credits, but I know there are some who have lost a lot more, which equates to them giving all those games away to other users at a loss. If it's gone, there's still 99gamers, which seems to be going strong.
Does anyone have any insight into this? Are there any fellow VGFive traders here?
UPDATE: "Yep, unfortunately. The owners didn't pay the bills, and that was that. The community is still alive over at www.vg2.me , but the trading part isn't coming back."
