Not always, but since the 80s? Late 70s maybe? Well, he's going to have a list or something. And the intro video was really cool.

That was a really cool watch. Probably the longest I've ever spent on a video game documentary type thing and while still enjoying it the whole time.


Also nice list of games, and very interesting to see so many "stars" that are apparently big gamers.

The way I think of it, it was more like a list of the 24 most influential games. With the Twitter thing being more of the outcome of what the other games have led up to, rather than actually a game in itself that was influential on our lives.

I wouldn't say the 'most' influential, but it seems like he was going for games that are iconic in certain ways - focus on story, emotion, scope, openness, cultural impact - he even said in an interview that he chose Starcraft as his choice for an important 'sports game'

It wasn't an amazing watch, but it was enjoyable. I thought the twitter was a bit of a cop-out, and I disagree with the idea that things like twitter having numerical counters and such makes them or game, or is even massively influenced by games - that sort of feedback has been something people have been aware about before gaming, even if gaming did cause a focus on it.

The whole twitter thing was to make a point about gamification in the real world.

There's a joke that comedians tell that's called The Aristocrats that is just basically the most offensive joke you can possibly tell. And playing Call of Duty, as you have a headset on, is like listening to a children's choir sing the longest, most vile aristocrats joke in your ear, for hours. It's intolerable.

Yeah, I find the accumulation of followers on twitter to be an experience closer to collecting than gaming. It's satisfying I'm sure, but there is no strategy or skill in it.

And twitter is not a direct result of forty years of gaming history, it's a communication application, it's lineage is the telegram and the text message.
