We have best of threads for everything else, so what do you think are the best games for Android?
I've only had a smart phone for a few months, but already found a few games I really like. Here's a top 10 list from a person that hasn't played all that many Android games. In other words, take my "top 10" with a grain of salt.
10. Chaos Rings Omega:
Visually, this is a stunner for a mobile game. It's a pretty average RPG, but it demonstrates the potential of the device.
9. Temple Run:
It's popular for a reason. The simple run, jump, slide, dodge of this game is easy to understand, yet difficult to master.
8. Quiz RPG:
Stupid trivia wrapped in stupid RPG trappings, yet I love.
7. Pulse:
A rhythm game that would only work on a touch screen. Cool concept and really spacey music selections make this a dreamy keeper.
6. Jetpack Joyride:
Steal a jetpack. High five scientists. Go up and down. It's simple, but enjoyable.
5. Time Surfer:
Time the angle of your jumps and zip through space. Rewind your mistakes. It's really fun once you get the hang of the controls.
4. Raiden Legacy:
Classic arcade shmup action translated to finger sliding controls. Better play control than I expected and the Raiden games are class acts.
3. Minecraft:
It's Minecraft. It's awesome on every platform it's on.
2. Rayman Jungle Run:
With beautiful graphics similar to the other recent Rayman games (Origins, Legends), Jungle Run distills the joy of Rayman into a (mostly) single button platformer. Easily the best translation of platforming action to a touch screen device that I have seen yet.
1. Super Hexagon:
This is about the only game I ever play anymore. I play it on PC. I play it on Android. I play it when I close my eyes. I am a slave to the almighty spinning Hexagon.

Re: The Best Android Games
I have a few, but really only Osmos, Canabalt, Plants vs. Zombies, and Robot Unicorn Attack have kept my attention. I didn't care for Raiden Legacy because I didn't like the controls, and I feel that Super Hexagon's controls prevent me from naming it #1. If you like Toki Tori, it's also on Android, and likewise with Metal Slug 3. I have about 2 dozen more that I haven't tried out yet, thanks to Humble Bundles. I'll probably find time soon to try out Uplink, Fractal, and Machinarium. Oh, that reminds me, I also didn't care for Eufloria.

Thanks for the link. I've been looking to get a few good Android games for my S4. The Play store doesn't really do a good job leading you to the top end games.Pulsar_t wrote:http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/buyersguide.asp?t=&sec=11

My most played are:
Androimion - free port of the card game Dominion
Blokish - free port of the boardgame Blokus
Nesoid - NES emulator
Greedcorp - Think Advance Wars or Military Madness, with a map that goes away as you mine. Excellent game on PC and on Android
Carmegeddon - Sometimes I have to drive over pedestrians.

The Riptide GT series is excellent. It's like Jet Moto and Hydro Thunder had a portable baby.
I also hear the port of Grand Theft Auto 3 is actually not bad at all. There are also a couple of good Rayman games.
I just got my Nexus 7, but I haven't gotten the chance to explore a lot of the Android games. Instead, I have been mostly playing epsxe (PS1 emu, 99% compatibility) and the surprisingly playable DS emu, Drastic. Both are apps I would highly recommend getting.
Also, Pocket Tanks is a fun free one you can play with friends.

I have been playing a lot of Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes lately. I highly recommend it because of the excellent match3 battle system. There is some interesting depth there.

Re: The Best Android Games
Here's a bunch of my favorites, although I rarely have a chance to play. I'd rather be on consoles.
Space Team: You need at least two people (4 players is best!), but it's an amazing time based mini-game where you assume control of a spaceship cockpit with hilarious controls. It's also cross platform with iOS if your friends have apple devices!
Deep Dungeons: Cool turn based 1v1 fighting game with pixel art.
Into the Dead: On rails zombie runner. think temple run, but you can shoot enemies and dodge zombies!
Color Zen: A fantastic minimalist color based puzzle game.
Gyro: Another awesome minimalist color game, albeit more arcade focused gameplay.
Quadropus: Similar to bastion for PC. Can be a tiny bit difficult to control, but is loads of fun and great artwork.
Badland: A pretty fun flying game that plays similar to R-type, but no shooting. The art style reminds me of Limbo.
Extinction: A stationary shooter game with zombies. Best played with two players because you control 1/2 the screen.

Re: The Best Android Games
I've been pretty impressed with Sega's Android library as I've said in other threads. A lot of titles were really ported over with care.
Re: The Best Android Games
I recently got a Kindle Fire HD (runs a forked version of Android), so many of these games I can get in the Amazon appstore. They've also got a free app (usually a game) every day, as well as sales and more paid games as free for certain occasions, so I've got a pretty big library.
Temple Run was one of the first games I got. Cannot be denied as a classic.
Riptide GP was a free app not too long ago, and that one is graphically amazing. Very easy to use the tilt controls on it.
I got Osmos HD as a free game also, haven't had a chance to try it.
I will also agree on the Sega ports. I've got Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic CD (my favorite as you all know) and Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing. They nailed these ports very well, everything is perfect. They had a pretty good sale on them around the holidays.
But my favorites as of right now --
Pinball Arcade, developed by FarSight Studios who made the Pinball HOF Collections for sixth and seventh generation consoles. Now available for pretty much any modern console and portable device. Accurate renditions of many classic pinball tables.
Flick Golf Extreme, another one that was a Free App Of The Day, good graphics and very addictive.
Atari Greatest Hits, who could not pass up 99 classics for $9.99? Multiple control options and you can play many games either in landscape or portrait, and all are ported really nice.
I just got Blazing Star for $2.99 the other day, and I'm trying to see if I can do as well as I have over on the SOTM thread (it's what we're playing now).
Is that Raiden collection worth getting?
