I don't have a 3DS nor a 2DS. Nintendo comes out with the DS, has a few titles on it then comes the 3DS which can't be played on DS but can be played on the 2DS. I just feel like Nintendo said bleh to its DS users.

Do any of you other DS owners who don't own a 3DS or 2DS feel alienated by Nintendo?

The original DS came out in 2004(!). And systems come and go. So Nintendo stopping supporting it isn't anything weird.
The DS had tremendous software support in its lifespan. Many great games saw the light of day on this handheld. It may be even one of the best handhelds ever.
Ofcourse 3DS games won't work on the DS. The 3DS has way more processing power than the DS ever had. It would be the weirdest move if Nintendo would do such thing.
A 3DS isn't all that expensive anymore and the great titles keep trinkling in (Pokemon, Zelda, Mario..). It will be a worthwile investment.

Yeah, I feel as though you may be misunderstanding the difference between a DS, 3DS, and 2DS. The 3DS wasn't just a DS with 3D capabilities slapped onto it, it's a very different beast under the hood. So there's no reason that 3DS titles would be backwards compatible with the DS -- if anything, we were kinda spoiled by the fact that Nintendo (wisely, in my opinion) made the DSi a "half-step" upgrade and allowed for DSi games to be (by and large) fully compatible with normal DS systems, and just unlock extra features with DSi mode.
And I have no idea how you can say they came out with "a few" games. Quick check of wikipedia puts it at 1300 games for the DS, and that's as of a year ago. That library puts most systems to shame.

Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

Yeah, I agree. There were like no good titles on the DS, it feels like Nintendo barely supported it. No wonder the system was a flop.Sano wrote:Do any of you other DS owners who don't own a 3DS or 2DS feel alienated by Nintendo?![]()

And now they go and release the 3DS. The DS has had barely had any time to pick up steam since 2004. I bet they won't release any good games for the 3DS either.
Next you know, they'll stop releasing Wii games because of the Wii U. The bastards.

I see all of your points, which are very valid. I guess I didn't think of how old the DS is now. Guess Ill just save my pennies and get a 3DS when I can.
As for the R4, I have heard of it.. does it work like the EverDrive for SNES? Just load a bunch of games on to an SD card and go?
