My first JAMMA supergun

Post by ninjainspandex »

so after meeting up with Mjmjr25 at the racketboy meetup, I was really inspired to get a supergun. I was contacted by a man on Shmups.com who goes by the handle RGB. He made me a custom supergun that outputs composite, S-video, and RGB. It has Sega Saturn inputs which is perfect for the classic street fighter layout, but that layout isn't that great for for the Neo Geo which is what I play the most. So he included a jamma adapter that remapped the buttons on the Saturn controller to be identical to the Neo Geo CD pad, pure perfection. Here are the results, needless to say I'm very pleased with them :D.

I can't believe I own all the original Metal Slug games now so affordably, I think the only one that was over $50 was 5 which was around $80

The Saturn inputs, the most comfortable way to game.

The back with the Jamma input and AV out. The AV out has an adapter that lets me use PS1 composite and S-video cables. Also came with a proprietary Scart cable. I forget what he numbers mean on the back, I think it has something to do with voltage. Just looks cool to me haha.

Awesome. That last pic, hooked up through the xrgb - doesn't get any better. Congratz!

That is just amazing!! I think that is my favorite looking super gun that I have seen. I love that you got Saturn and Neo Geo controller inputs to chose from that is great. Everything is also very clean looking.

As my arcade collection grows I am often checking the possibility of getting a nice supergun.

Edit: Could I see a close pic of the Neo Geo controller inputs? Or did I miss them as I never have look at any?

I think I should be more clear, it only has saturn inputs but the adapter lets me change the button layout on the pad where normally the top row is 1 2 3 and bottom is 456 with the neo geo layout adapter A on the saturn pad is A B is B X is C and Y is D. I hope that made sense.

Very nice man. I wouldn't mind having that little setup myself.

That's a really nice looking supergun! Sleek and simple!

The voltage display on the back will be nice if you start getting into other boards as well, as some require really specific numbers out of the +5v line. A lot easier to have it already there than to have to bust out the meter when you're switching boards.

For sure, I keep wanting to pick up a inline voltage display for my cab but never get around to it.

Hey Ninja, if ya don't mind me asking what did that set you back price wise?

Beautiful! I love your setup. Looks like you can regulate the 5v rail as on most standard arcade psu's. I have all the parts to build for mine, I've just been bogged down with tons of other projects. Congrats!
