My Early Gift to Myself, The 3DS
It's that time of the year again when we all think about getting gifts for the ones we love...or just being an ass and splurging on something nice for ourselves.
Now I know that "black friday" is coming. But I was never one for wanting to get shoved around just to save a little on gifts. I like to wait for other normal sales to pop up.
Anyways i'm lucky since I'm the only gamer in my family and I only have to buy something game related for my BF. So I can be an ass and get to treat myself. Like I just did today.
I found a pawn shop with a 3DS in it for $119, the lowest I could find and they even had a Starfox 3D game there too. I'v been on the fence wondering if I should get it or not, so I said to hell with it since the return policy is 30 days. Long enough to know if I like it.
So let's just say I do like it and keep it. What are some good games for it? I like the usual stuff, Mario, Zelda, Kirby and some Pokemon games (not a huge fan of them since Pokemon Red). But I also like kinda odd games like Under the Knife and puzzleish games like Crush, Lumines and Loco Roco for the PSP (I haven't found many good puzzleish games for the DS yet). Oh and is Spirit Camera any good? I'v seen it before but idk if it's crap or not.
And since we're on the topic, what gaming stuff are you getting yourself for the holidays?

I've only played one 3DS game so far - Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward. If you like "puzzleish" visual novels with dark/serious overtones, I'd say it's worth playing. But I'd recommend the first game in the series, 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors for original DS, first.
(And FYI, from what I've heard about Spirit Camera, it's not that good compared to the real Fatal Frame games.)

Actually I'v been meaning to pick up 999 but I have yet to find it in GS or a pawn shop. I do enjoy visual novels that go a bit dark. I'll have to put that on my list.Nemoide wrote:I've only played one 3DS game so far - Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward. I'v never really played the Fatal Frame games since...I get scared really easily so I'v never gotten into scary horror games. It wasn't until a few months ago that I started to give scary games a chance. So since I'v never played them, is it still a good idea to grab it if I see it?

Re: My Early Gift to Myself, The 3DS
You have soooo many quality DS games you can get for your 3DS.
I haven't bought many 3ds games. But like always 1st party Nintendo stuff is good.
Maybe because its still a new system, I have not seen a glut of crappy games like the first DS has.
you can still get lucky and find some 3DS real cheap

I all ready have a list of DS games I need to get so I'm not to worried about that. I just want to know some good titles I should keep an eye out for the 3DS since it's a new system and I want to make sure I like it before that 30 day return policy is up.flojocabron wrote:You have soooo many quality DS games you can get for your 3DS.

Re: My Early Gift to Myself, The 3DS
Ah thanks, that listed some good looking games I didn't know about like Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner - Soul Hackers. Was a fan of the first Luigi game since Luigi got boned by Mario for all those years being just a stupid side kick and Soul Hackers sounds good since I'm not really into SMT to know the story...I just have a few of the games and have been trying to settle into them...Damm64 wrote:I'll just do the lazy thing and paste a link to a list of 3DS games intead of thinking one on ym own

Shin Megami Tensei IV, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Pokemon X/Y and Kid Icarus Uprising are what I'd recommend most, just off the top of my head. Super Mario 3D Land seems awesome, but I haven't gotten a chance to play it yet.
Zelda: A Link Between Worlds drops on the 22nd, so consider that as well, I guess.

Isn't that the game where it takes place in the SNES game world? If so hell yes. That was my second fav Zelda game lol.Nintendork666 wrote:Shin Megami Tensei IV, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Pokemon X/Y and Kid Icarus Uprising are what I'd recommend most, just off the top of my head. If you like 'logic puzzle' type games, then try to hunt down as many Phoenix Wright games as you can.
If you do decide to play them, play them in chronological order.
