Random Gaming Facts Thread
I did a search and came up with nothing of the kind other than the random thoughts thread sooo here goes! Post any random gaming facts in this thread. I really enjoy finding and learning random facts about games.
Here is mine to start it off!:
Luigi is only Mario's brother because of memory limitations on the NES. There was not enough memory available on an NES cart to generate a completely different player 2 so they settled with cloning Mario and changing his color to green. They also originally did not plan on calling them brothers but decided that since they looked completely identical that it would be a better marketing plan.
So please post away! I am looking forward to learning some interesting facts!

I am buying all Saturn games, PM me with your offerings and I will let you know if I need the game or not! (Everything must be CIB)
Currently trying to knock off all the sports games, would like to get them <$5 each! Of course if you would like to donate them I will gladly pay the shipping!

Why would the NES have anything to do with it? Luigi's debut was in the arcade Mario Bros that came out much earlier. Probably the same idea with the memory limitations though.

so this thread will be untrue gaming facts?
Did you know that Mega Man was originally designed as Mega Woman?

I suppose that maybe SMB was supposed to be a reimagining of the game? I am not completely sure but I remember reading it that way. Although, memory limitations is likely the issue with the arcade as you said.

Shigeru Miyamoto nearly quit when the first Bubsy came out because he thought he could never do better.

Re: Random Gaming Facts Thread
One fact that I just discovered yesterday is that Donkey Kong 64 was only sold with the Expansion Pak because of a programming error. The game needed the expansion to even run, not necessarily because of advanced graphics or anything of that sort. I could imagine that Rare lost quite a bit of money because of it, especially because it was not originally planned.

I am sorry. I read the article it was in that way. Completely my fault.

This absolutely screams "bullshit."

There are only 122 rare video games. Anyone who tells you their game is rare is probably lying.

Taken from Wikipedia:
Donkey Kong 64 was one of only two Nintendo 64 games to require the Expansion Pak (the other being The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask),[3] which provides 4 MB more RAM for enhanced graphics and more expansive environments,[4] as well as to fix a game-breaking bug
