Article on Project CD (GOG, The Witcher)

Post by Ivo »

PA Report linked to this nice article on Project CD:

I really enjoyed reading it. It had a lot of stuff that was reminiscent of stuff. I really liked this paragraph, a sentiment that I believe I wrote in some post(s) here in the forum before
The second very important thing was CD-ROM. "People who were not a part of this don't remember how revolutionary it was. I mean what is Blu-ray?" scoffs Iwiński. "[CD] was 400-something floppy discs on one CD; it was a total game changer."
Anyway here is the link

Very good read. I love these guys tenacity and determination. It has paid off for both them and us. They get to do what they love and we get to play their amazing games.

This was a fantastic read (why do I always forget to check Eurogamer?). It was super informative and actually quite inspiring. It makes me want to pick up a physical copy of The Witcher now, haha.

An excellent read. CD Projekt is one of my favorite game companies.

Been thinking about getting The Witcher 2. Have been thinking about waiting for a sale but $20 isn't too bad.

These guys deserve your money. I haven't played The Witcher 2 yet, but $20 was cheap for how good The Witcher was. It's a bargain for what you get, and it's going to awesome people. There's no better way to spend your gaming budget.

I paid $5 for Witcher last year and after playing it for six hours I hopped on and bought Witcher 2. Witcher 1 is one of the finest games I have ever played and I have not finished it. The trailer for Witcher 3 just excites me:

Well, it's pretty easy to sell me on a game that I am already interested in. I am more of a 'start with the newest one' person as opposed to 'start from the beginning'. In this case is it alright to start from 2 or is there so real NEED to play the first?

You can transfer your character from the first to the second.

It's well worth it, considering their "regular" versions meet or beat a lot of CEs out there. Both games have an Enhanced Edition that roll a substantial update into them (which are free anyway, but large).

For the first game, I think that release has more in the box to boot (four extra discs - soundtrack, music inspired by, making of dvd, editor/extra quest, novel excerpt, game guide, map). For 2, the original release has a little more in the box. Both have a soundtrack, map, and game guide. The original release also has a making of DVD, replica coin and letter, and some papercraft.

You can always just put the codes into GOG and get the digital versions from there instead of worrying about installing from the discs. But for the ~$12 apiece that The Witcher Enhanced Edition and The Witcher 2 currently are on Amazon, if you like tangible bonus items, they're a great deal.
