I love this game, but I don't quite understand it. I can never seem to get anywhere. Any time I expand my empire, sometimes even taking over just one other fortress, all of a sudden my money is spread way too thin and I'm almost crippled, waiting an insane amount of turns to do anything substantial. I can't figure out how quickly the game wants me to expand. At first I thought I was moving too fast, but then sometimes I'm prompted by an enemy to take them out and I end up having the same problem where my empire is too big. (Side note: this is a game mechanic I don't understand from a logical standpoint. How am I having problems with my economy when I just acquired another province? Shouldn't it all be relative? I acquired all their land, money, people, and economy essentially. I'm not taking money away from my home province for them really. I don't get it).
The only thing I've figured out is that upgrading your farm lands is a good idea. Other than that I don't know how the hell to create wealth in this game. The Shimazu have trade routes right next to their province, but they don't seem to be all that lucrative and building a navy on top of an army is another expense. I have had hardly any luck with politics either. Pretty much no one wants to do an even up exchange, such as a straight up trade agreement, without squeezing me for something else on top of it. I'm either missing something, doing things in the wrong order, or still moving too fast I guess. Please help!!
