Notable games released in Japan AND Europe but NOT the US...

Post by BoneSnapDeez »

These games can be the most frustrating of all. As far as retro titles go - it's great to find these games in English, but PAL stuff is typically pretty tough to operate in the US.

What games can you think of? I'll get the ball rolling.

Image
Turbo OutRun (Genesis)
No idea why this one wasn't released in the States. Too similar to the original?

Image
Terranigma (SNES)
The final chapter of a "trilogy" that also contains Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia. Apparently the religious themes were too much for an American audience.

Project Altered Beast (PS2)
Yes, Altered Beast has a sequel!

Image
Breath of Fire III (PSP)
A great portable version of the PSX RPG.

Image
Tales of Eternia (PSP)
Another great port of a PSX game (which was called Tales of Destiny II in America).

Image
Ys Strategy (DS)
A strategy RPG based on the Ys series. Thankfully the DS is region free so I shall certainly seek out a PAL version.

What else ya got?????

Siren 2 and Siren Blood Curse.

Siren 2 released on the Ps2 and blood curse on PS3. This is a series of interesting survival horror games, the most notecible feature is that you can watch from the perspective of your enemies on first person, this allows you find better ways to avoid them. The games are DARK and had a great creepy atmosphere.

Now i remember that blood siren is on PSN on USA but the fisical version is only for Europe and Japan.

Tales of Phantasia (SNES)

Was "ported" to the GBA in 2006, but i still find the SNES version the best.

...............I could be wrong but I don't think any version of that game was released in Europe.

Maybe I wasn't clear but I'm looking for stuff that was released in Japan and Europe, not Japan and/or Europe.

GameFAQs is an easy place to check this sort of thing, like so:

a resident evil clone pretty hilarious voice acting, sadly the pal version is very rare and expensive.
