Hello everyone,
I recently picked up a Japanese AES to play on. It is one of the models which take the PRO-POW3 AC adapters(serial number is 223009). I was sent a Famicom HVC-002 adapter with it, which is
AC100V 50/60Hz 18VA
DC10V 850mA
The seller told me this would work fine with my AES. I was also told that there is no real need to pick up a step down converter (I live in North America where the electricity is 120v). I've been reading the articles on this site for a few years now and thought I'd ask here if all this was safe? I'd hate to damage my Neo Geo in any way. I have been refraining from playing for extended periods so I'd like to know once and for all if this power supply was okay and if I should get a power converter or not to be safe.
Thank you for any responses, love this site by the way.

*Got amperage and voltage mixed up, sorry about that.

Okay cool, thanks for the fast response!
I have been on the lookout for an OEM Pro Pow3 for a while, will be sure to pick one up now.

Re: Neo Geo AES power question
I would not use that adapter. The voltage and polarity should match and the brick should provide the same or more than the console needs in order to be safe. If it was just a question of the US power and the proper Japanese power brick, I'd say it would be ok for non marathos plays. But if the amperage of the brick isn't up to snuff on top of the US power difference, that's too many variables IMHO and I wouldn't do it.

Re: Neo Geo AES power question
Okay thanks for letting me know. I have not played for very long since owning it, mainly just to test games after buying them. I do not understand everything about power ratings yet and have been trying to learn, if I were to buy a 100W Step Up and Down converter that should be safe for my AES with the Pro Pow3? Definitely want to be as careful as possible

Re: Neo Geo AES power question
Just buy a properly rated brick for your AES. Match the voltage and polarity that the system expects, then the mA rating on the brick should be the same or higher than the console wants.
