How Can You Tell If A Game Has Redbook Audio?

Post by BurningDoom »

Other than popping the disc into a stereo and hoping you don't hear that ungodly sound when it isn't Redbook Audio, is there any other indicator or way you can tell if a game has Redbook Audio or not?

I suppose if you don't want to put it in a CD player you could google it.

If you just want to avoid hearing the noise, turn down the volume before popping in the disc.

You could always load it into a CD-ROM drive in your computer or game console (basically tell the console it's an audio CD) and just see how many tracks it has?

Games will be mixed format though, so Explorer will just show you the data. If you have a ripper such as CDEX or something installed though, it will show audio tracks. Then of course you can proceed with ripping them so they're handy on your PC without further screech issues.

Pop it in a CD player, see how many tracks pop up. If it's more than like 2 or so, it's probably redbook.

Yup, it's pretty much this or sticking it in a PC although some games do let you know on the box or in the manual.
