Anyone here into mechanical keyboards? I first got to try one out at a friends house a while ago, and while I thought he was crazy for having a $100+ keyboard, I loved the feel and sound of using it. I never thought of buying my own, the main limitation being I need a wireless keyboard, my computer is hooked up to my TV, and I use a wireless keyboard and mouse from the couch to browse (type this very message) play games and watch movies etc...
I stumbled across what seems to be one of the only wireless Mechanical keyboards out there
http://www.amazon.com/XArmor-U9W-wirele ... B004S862FW
but the price was a little more than I wanted to drop (around $120 I believe) But my Wife was paying attention, and our 1 year wedding anniversary was yesterday and it turns out she got it for me! I am still getting used to it, and while it feels a lot different than a "normal" keyboard, I can tell once I get used to it I will be typing way faster! I love the sound the keys make, and they are very easy to press. I am sure there are plenty of people that would think its crazy to pay that much for a keyboard, but once you actually use one, you can start to see the other side haha.
I am very happy with the range of this keyboard, there are no issues from my couch I can go almost anywhere in my house and it still registers, and I played a couple of test games and they were flawless. I had read something about this model not being able to recognize a certain number of keys pressed at the same time, but I tested it with Surgeon Simulator 2013 which requires you to press 5 keys at once (A,W,E,R, Space) and it had no problem, so I am not sure how many keys people are needing to press at the same time, but this should do just fine for my needs.
So anyone else here crazy about mechanical keyboards?

Know what you mean I love the solid older keyboards, especially when you can feel the switch underneath.
IBM K8-8923
Mandatory mention of this tank of a keyboard, great for PC gaming and running Excel.
My Board III
The keys are ridiculously huge, perfect as "Arcade Button" controls simulating older Arcade panels that just have buttons for movement and firing. This really has the solid tactical clicks just like the Arcade.

Re: Mechanical Keyboards
I wouldn't trade my mechanical keyboard for anything in the world. It's an Adesso 135b with Cherry Blue keys.

Older. Not wiser.
Re: Mechanical Keyboards
Not totally sold on Mechanical Keyboards, but if i got one, it would have to be a Filco, which are crazy expensive, usually $150+.

Currently using a Razer Arctosa Membrane keyboard, has slim-profile keys, which when it comes to Razer, you either love them, or despise them with all your soul.

I am with CRTGAMER, at least for retro PC games, nothing beats the feels and feedback of those IBM keyboards.
You will never get me near a mechanical mouse again though.

This is funny, because when my wife and I were talking about these keyboards, she asked if they made a mechanical mouse, and I laughed and told her that she probably grew up using one, and told her that the ball type were mechanical. Once she realized that she had a good laugh.
This keyboard is so different than what I am used to, when I get on a good run, I type crazy fast, but then I start to make a lot of random mistakes. I am sure I just need to get used to the spacing, and how soft of a touch the keys need.

YES! I got that keyboard last year and I love it. Between that and my Razer Deathadder I've become a real Razer whore.

Im still using a Razer Diamondback from 2005, love it, have a backup in case it dies, love this mouse.
Re: Mechanical Keyboards
Not sure "crazy about" is the right phrasing, but I do tend to subscribe to the notion that skimping on input devices (and monitors/etc) isn't great. I mean, they tend to influence your entire experience n' all.
Anyway, I like my WASD Keyboards model v1 with Cherry MX Browns. The actual keyboard is the same thing as a Filco, but they're a bit more available for those of us in the US, and you can pick keycap color and stuff as part of the standard price (or do custom for a little more).
Apple Pro keyboard at work drives me nuts now, so hard to type on versus the mechanical.
Razer Lycosa keyboard I had was a piece of crap, so, I'm not keen on 'em.
