I just bought a Sega Saturn 3D controller used.
Is the D-Pad suppose to be a little different than the model 2 regular Saturn controller D-Pad?
The regular model 2 d-pad texture feels more smooth, and the actually movement feels more flexible (if that makes sense). The 3d d-pad texture feels more rough (kind of like it was sanded) and the movement of the d-pad feels more stiff.
the controller is still nice and accurate.

Yup! Sounds about right!
I'm sure you can swap in the rubber membrane and the plastic of a regular Model 2 pad if you want. Wouldn't hurt to have a look certainly.
Personally, I liked everything about the 3D pad better. Not as precise or sharp sure, but, vastly more comfortable for those long play sessions IMO.

Older. Not wiser.

If it's anything like the Genesis 6-button pad (which I believe either it, or the standard Saturn controller is) the d-pad is essentially locked into the front plate.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Yup! Sounds about right!

I think both the stock and 3D Saturn pads are great, personally. Obviously for some games the 3D pad is essential, but if one is strictly a game-pad person, it can also be really good for fighting games with the uniform sizes of the face buttons. The analog triggers on the 3D pad are great, as well. Although, it would be nice if they had been utilized for more things; especially racing games.
