How many of you are going for next-gen consoles in 2013 and WHY ?
for me it doesn't matter which one, because lets face it they're pretty equal and it comes down to the games...A next-gen jump is a next-gen jump no matter how you see it..
For me? I'm torn, a part of me wants the new shiny hardware and new exciting games but then again I look at my shelf and I see around 150 unplayed 360/PS3 games and then all the retro stuff I acquired recently .. Decisions!
I'm buying a PS4 so I can continue to play the Sony exclusives I love. inFamous is great fun, and I have no doubt Naughty Dog will be cooking up some great stuff for the PS4. I'm going for PS4 over Xbone because I liked PS3 best this gen, Xbone really gave me horrible first impressions, and it's $100 cheaper.

I'm never an early adopter of things. It's more expensive and there's always bugs to work out and very little content that usually isn't much of an improvement over the previous generation initially. I'm the same way with the games themselves unless it's something I'm really looking forward to I'm usually content to wait for prices to drop.

For example I have a big backlog as many of you...Feels hard to justify that 500$ or so needed for a next-gen when I have so many games to play
Wondering if I should just sell everything (That would be a tremendous effort tho!)
Dump the older gen? This is a forum about retrogaming - why would any of us dump our older stuff simply to move onto the next gen? Also, selling everything is generally a very bad idea.
I have my next gen console, Wiiu. I will get a PS4 or Xbox180 when the price has dropped to $200ish and if they havent screwedup. Most major releases I just wait until they go on sale on Steam. While I may have more money than previous generations, I also have more patience.

This is my approach, too. The only exclusives I care about anymore are from Nintendo IPs. Sony and Microsoft have a view of the future of console gaming that just doesn't jive with my needs as a customer.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
