Building my Wii Collection

Post by Frag Mortuus »

So I recently bought a Wii U and have started buying older Wii games that I've always wanted. Two games I've been eyeing have been LoZ: Skyward Sword and Metroid Prime Trilogy. Now, I'm aware of the controversy surrounding the reprints of MPT, but just two days ago the price dropped from $85 to $70, and after my Power Up card, it dropped it down to right at $60 which I thought was pretty fair.

I also wanted a new copy of LoZ: Skyward Sword, but the prices on Amazon and Ebay were slightly inflated for a new copy. But, when I went to look for MPT, I decided to check out their copy of LoZSS anyway and found that they were "Used New Stock" or whatever the term was. So, I got a brand new copy of it for $40. I was also able to register the code on Club Nintendo.

I usually don't have the money to blow on this kind of stuff, but my wife started a photography business a couple of years ago and this year has really been good for her. Anyway, just thought I would share.

Thanks!

Why do I keep seeing posts saying Gamestop is selling Reprints of Metroid Trilogy and Xeonoblade. They were TRADEINS when Gamestop sent out an EMail to registered owners. Many dummies traded them in when moving on to the WiiU.

All 4 of the GS managers in my area said they are reprints. That's what I'm going by.

My only question is: If they aren't reprints, then why are they all in immaculate, untouched condition?

I'm not arguing the fact that they flyer existed, but it seems that a bunch of people bought these games and never, ever touched them before trading them in.

I'm not trying to re-open this debate. I was just sharing my score.

My bet is they are speculating, I have yet to see any proof.

Anyways, you picked a great time to build up a Wii collection. With the exception of mentioned titles, most can be found inexpensive CIB used at Gamestop.

My Wii Thread might be of help, the OP is Index Linked for each game and hardware.

Managers have told me the same thing.

Metroid Prime Trilogy was never released with a white case and slip cover, and GameStop doesn't make a habit of creating professionally designed slips to replace ones that weren't with the game.

There's also the issue that, about three months prior to these showing up, the Xenoblade and Metroid Prime Trilogy copies started disappearing from most stores, the prices of both games shot up $20-$30 and then they suddenly appeared again. GameStop shuffles around stock a lot, but it's obvious they're just trying to take advantage of the resell value of these games, to a ridiculous degree.

The only qualm people should really have is that ... by producing more of them, the games are not actually worth that much anymore. So, speculation or not ... I don't know if people should give them the benefit of the doubt.

I wrote a thread on this the other day. They are reprints that were new and was being sold as used to mark up the price. I also have a close friend who works at a gamestop and told me last week him and his boss got a ups package that had these games and they were new and sealed and they removed the packing and put a used tag on the games. It's becoming a dead issue now. Everyone is getting word and gamestop is dropping prices on these two games.
