So this is the strangest thing to me. My 360 appears to work like a champ, except, I can't install games. Every last one of them gives me disc read errors if I try to play them. It will install fine. It will usually make it to the main menu of any one game fine. If I try and play it though, it will usually lead to an error at the first loading screen, sometimes a little after, of any game. All my games play just fine uninstalled so it's not a huge deal. It's still curious though.
I did the whole format, delete cache, and re install a few times. Doesn't appear to work. I took out the hard drive and re-seated it (both the connection to the console and the internal SATA connection) and that hasn't worked either. Which leads me to believe either I have a firmware issue or hard drive issue. However, I don't have any corrupt save files or anything of that sort. I'm left a bit confused by this. I guess it could be the disc drive but I imagine I would have trouble when playing games from disc which just doesn't happen.
Any ideas? It's an Xbox Elite 120gb built in April 09 if that helps.

That's very strange. Have you tried perhaps playing a piece of downloadable content? Maybe a map pack or single player add on? I feel if that doesn't work but you still have access to your game saves it could be a bad sector. I'm no expert in HDDs but maybe the 360 software uses certain sectors of a hard drive for certain things. It just so happens that one sector it uses for installs or what ever is a bad sector.
