Hi everyone,
In my quest to RGB-ify every console I have, I recently bought this cable, to connect my Dreamcast to my Sony PVM display via this SCART-to-RGB cable.
However, when I just tested this config (using two Dreamcasts, just to be sure), the picture on the PVM screen was blurry, jittery, and suffered from frequent horizontal tearing and warping.
Since I'm still learning the intricacies of live in an RGB world, I'm uncertain if this is indicating a bad Dreamcast-to-SCART cable (I trust the other one, since my SNES looks awesome running through it), or perhaps something sync-related that I'm not grasping yet?
Any tips or pointers would be really welcome. I can certainly request a replacement or refund from the seller of the Dreamcast cable, but there's not much point if my whole concept is flawed and I just don't realize it yet.
Thanks!

Re: Quick question re: Dreamcast + RGB + Sony PVM display
What model PVM?
In short, it's probably not the BNC breakout cable, it's probably that the scart cable is wired to pull from composite video and not composite sync. Some PVM's can clean the sync, some cant. Knowing the model might help. The medical versions (model no's ending with MDU or MD) usually can clean sync signals and use composite video for sync (which is what scart TV's do). I use composite video for sync on my PVM's all the time. Other models of PVMs you need to get clean composite sync. The dreamcast does output it, so it's technically possible to mod the cable. That or you could get a sync cleaner/seperator. I made my own dreamcast -> PVM cable using parts from a dead VGA box.
How is your SNES connected? Same scart->BNC type setup, or s-video, or what?

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

My monitor is a PVM-1943MD, if that helps. I have the SNES connected with a simple SNES-to-SCART cable with "raw" sync - that link is the actual one I bought, and it works wonderfully when paired with that previously-linked SCART-to-BNC breakout cable.

That model should be fine with composite video as sync. I have three of them... One of the three occasionally gives me problems like what you're describing with cvid as sync but it works most of the time. I'd try another dreamcast scart cable first most likely. Otherwise you'll need a cable wired for raw sync.
