I thought I posted this before, but couldn't find any record of it:
This is an arcade I never saw in an arcade; played it in a friend's garage (his dad fixed arcades for pizza joints and such). Year was 1992, so this was early 90s.
The game reminds me slightly of Stellar 7/Stellar-Fire, but that's not it (and that wasn't an arcade).
Details are a bit fuzzy, but...
What I remember:
-Free range, 1st-person Driving (not racing) Game
-Futuristic/Alien Planet/Barren/Post Apocalyptic
-Vehicle might be hovercraft
-Vehicle has Claw attached to front
-Claw Collects crystals (green and red, I think)
-Crystals restore Health and Ammo (I think)
-end of level has a battle/shootout at a building (you have to shoot people in windows/doorways from a stationary position)
I've tried to find info on this game for years, but nothing.

Good, someone to share this thorn in my mindHobie-wan wrote:I know this game. I'm blanking on the damn title.
Let me know if you find out anything.
Not Stun Runner, as that is not free range, and I remember that arcade well enough.CRTGAMER wrote:STUN Runner

Not Cyber Sled, as it's more of a cockpit view (and by that I mean maybe a console base, not sure about if the window was restricted otherwise), and I think less 3D intensive).
I wish I remembered what you were actually shooting during the levels.

I'm sure it's a mid 80s arcade game, but I've had no luck with lists. I've played the game too.

Figures I get to a "name that game" thread fast enough and I can't think of it.
Is that all the information you have to go on? No manufacturer ?
Glad Cyber Sled was already mentioned. I'd say T-Mek it had green crystals but that was past 1992, not free range, and very similar to Cyber Sled.
Spent the last hour trying to figure this out because if I haven't played an arcade game, I must have read something about it to fill in the gaps of those I have not come across. Trivia like this is fun!

I'm sorry, That's an hour you'll never get back. It's nothing I haven't done myself though.ExedExes wrote:Figures I get to a "name that game" thread fast enough and I can't think of it.

Nope, have no idea who made it. This was back before I even paid much attention to companies.
T-Mek does have a similar look. I think I even remember a radar on the console. But I'm pretty sure it was just a regular upright cabinet. However, the claw in front of the vehicle was always visible. Wasn't anything fancy, just a metal fork in the shape of the crystals to fit in.
Also, I'm positive it was early 1990's because I have other life events to compare it to. Very latest it could be is 1993, but I'm fairly sure '92 was the year.

Re: Help Remembering a 90s Arcade Game: yes, another one
Great Scott!!!
That's the one. Thanks Hobie
I was beginning to wonder whether I dreamed up the game.
SO IT WAS MADE IN 1986...
Damn, I was off by quite a bit. It WAS 1992 when I played it though. For some reason I was impressed by it at the time. I guess I didn't get out much.
And yeah, it wasn't a claw exactly, it was an electrified slot for the crystals. I remember now.
For some reason, I couldn't remember whether it had a driving wheel or not
Still have good memories of the game though.
--EDIT--
Damn again, I didn't remember the light gun either. That would've been a good clue. How many arcades had BOTH a steering wheel AND a light gun?
Actually, I think I watched the arcade a lot more than played it, as my peers hogged all the time on it (not that I minded much).
