Sonic Chronicles: BioWare's Hedgehog RPG

Post by racketboy »

The latest issue of Nintendo Power features a cover story and 7-page feature on BioWare's role playing game for the Nintendo DS that stars Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog. Titled Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, the portable RPG is said to be a stylus-controlled affair a la The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

For those that are unaware, Bioware are the guys behind KOTOR, Mass Effect, and Jade Empire -- all of which are highly-acclaimed western RPGs

Errrr... Sonic in a turn based RPG?

I just don't think that a sonic RPG would work very well, I mean, the fun of sonic (well, the old ones anyway) is that it's simple, fun & incredibly fast. I think it's good that they're making an RPG for the DS, but did it have to be sonic?

I bought the Nintendo Power as soon as I saw it on newsstands, I am so excited about this game. Mario has had his own RPGs for years, I think this is Sonic's due time. If you read the article the guys from BioWare talk about how they wanted to keep the sense of speed in Sonic, so they are going and Elite Beat Agents route to keep up the pace of battle, and there won't be any random encounters, only enemies in the overworld that can be seen and avoided if wanted. To me BioWare + Sonic = sexy time!
