TV sound issues

Post by GirlGamer55 »

I was about to test some PS games today when I noticed my TV wasn't giving off any sound. This has happened in the past so I hit the side thinking it would pop in...it didn't. After about 5 minutes of hitting the side (and making the picture pop in and out) I gave up and started looking online for help.

What I know is this, it's a Toshiba CF19E22 made in 1995.

It just started acting up this year, before that it was the perfect TV, no issues at all.

Maybe it's time to retire it but i'm attached to it...so I want to try and fix this.

I found next to nothing online (except manuals) and I don't know anything about fixing TV's. Maybe someone on here knows a thing or two about fixing TV's and can help guide me. I did ask my dad about it and he said he doesn't know anything about TV's as well but he would try looking at it tomarrow.

It would be far more costly to replace the parts that have probably gone out (especially after beating it) than to just find another similar (or exact) TV.

It wouldn't be just loose wiring?

I'v been debating about if I should just trash it and get a newer TV that actually fits in my media center...the space is 26 wide, 30 tall and 14 deep (give or take a few inches).

If I was going down that road, which TV's are best for retro gaming and newer consoles (like PS3 and Xbox), would be great if the RCA jacks were on the front...

I mean I know CRT ones are good for that retro feeling...but are any newer flat screens ok? Not that I can afford one but..

It could be just loose wiring but you would usually notice that where you plug it in. Kinda unlikely that the wiring inside just came loose at random. If it has just been getting worse it is more likely that a component or two has finally hit the end of its rope.

I'd honestly hit up Goodwill or Craigslist and find a working tube TV or CRT instead of opening it up if you're not sure on how to repair a TV. You won't pay much at all.

Or it could magically start working again...just on a whim I went to try it before I settled in at my PC for a night of gaming and it worked. Nothing better then hearing the LoZ: OoT theme...

It's slowly giving up on me and I know at some point I will need to replace it...but..for now it lives on.
