Ouya Emulation

I'm considering picking up an Ouya just to have an HD emulation box for my TV, as the refresh rate on my TV prohibits me from doing it from my PC.

Anyone else heard much about emulation on the Ouya, or have tried it themselves?

I have one. Works great for PlayStation, Genesis, SNES, basically everything up to the N64. The controller is garbage, but most of the emulators and games will work with basically any good bluetooth controller.

Beyond emulation there really isn't much of a reason to get one unless you like tinkering with Android devices.

It probably can, but the current available emulator on the Ouya store doesn't work very well. I'm sure some sideloaded, already developed one would probably work just fine.

Oh ok, got it.

I was really interested in the Ouya when it was announced but it just keeps getting less and less interesting. Maybe when it gets a big discount I'll big it up to goof with.

I love my Ouya, but it has it's drawbacks. Sometimes I just want to play something, but it's update structure gets in the way. I may not have the fastest download speeds- in an old neighborhood- but the updates take forever and they can't be skipped, regardless of if you want to go online or not.

As for emulation, it's great. Tons of options, nice sharp picture... my wife loves being able to save the state on Mike Tyson's Punch Out and come back to it when she's calmed down.

Sadly, I think it's a doomed system. With all the emulation, I haven't brought a single game. Guilty.
