First fighter buy in ages!

Post by Spyke »

Well, it's ages since I played any fighting games, but I've always had a soft spot for Marvel characters.

Tonight I won a boxed X-Men vs Street Fighter with 4mb cart on ebay! :D Pretty happy about it as it was a reasonable price and postage (from Japan) too. Looking forward to it arriving... in a week or three!

Seen some online reviews and videos and it looks like a very good game. Whether I'm any good at it is another thing completely...!

That is an excellent game to get back into fighters with. There was an X-men vs SF machine in the small arcade at the mall near where I lived when I was in middle school. I played at least one game every time I was there; what with it being right next to Suncoast. Saturn version happens to be a magnificent port of the arcade.

I actually ordered my copy from a website while I was in Japan for about 800 yen. I think it was supposed to be the standard disc release, but when I got it, it was a 4MB ram cart bundle copy that looked like it had never been used. That was a pretty good day.

Congrats! Xmen Vs SF is a great fighter to get back into if you've been far off the genre for a while. The Saturn port is damn decent arcade to home translation too (although there are some minor issues which will only put a damper on high level players and maybe some intermediates).

Umm... may I ask how much you paid for it? I'm just curious how much the game goes for there days.

It's great to hear that I'm getting a quality title (although I did suspect as much already!)

I paid $31 US with $8 shipping to UK. I watched another one finish a few minutes earlier that sold for $38 US but it was all in "A-grade" whereas mine is listed as "B" throughout. Which is fine - it won't be living in a display case when it reaches me (though I do look after my stuff and hope that it doesn't deteriorate any while in my care).

Wow - that 800 Yen buy was a giveaway!! ;)

This is my favorite marvel fighter on the saturn! I play mine in fairly regular rotation. Enjoy!

Thats what I love about amazon.jp, acceptable to them is like great condition for us. I bought a good condition copy of Castle of Shikigami 2 for the dreamcast for 2000 yen it came to me as the complete limited edition with sealed soundtrack. Here in the states people will list cart only games on amazon as "like new" if it's like new it would come complete >.>

That is an insane price for CoS 2 LE. I settled for 4500 for my copy because it was the best I could find at the time. I picked up X-men vs SF from a different site, but yeah, they're a pretty rule following bunch over there. I've been shafted a couple times by sellers on Amazon.jp before, and there are a lot more sellers popping up over the last year or so that either will not describe the condition of the game, even if contacted about it (explicitly stating this in the item description) or just put an essentially automated description saying that they have too many items to note condition. (And I mean basic things, like completeness.) I do miss the attention to condition a lot of sellers in Japan afford their wears, though. I constantly feel like I'm being shafted, or misled when I buy games in the US that aren't sealed.

Well it arrived! Only six days from Japan to UK - not bad!

Condition is as described, slightly scuffed outer box but everything else is pretty much faultless.

The game plays flawlessly. It's so fast and fluid, with great animation. I couldn't find an option to enable or disable the 4mb ram cart - is it automatically assumed to be "on" all the time?

Now I just need to learn some moves. Must try and find a moves list.

I love the style and content. Very pleased with this game! :D

Why would the game have an option to disable the Ram cart when it can't even run without it???
The Ram expansion isn't an optional feature. It's required.

Going thru the game manual for that move list would be a good start ;)
