So i never played XCOM, i saw some gamepaly and maybe i'll get it on the PS3. But with this other title i'm really interested in it, it reminds me a lot of Star Wars Republic commado but with a deeper comand system and a selectable squad.
But i know this game has suffered some major changes since it was announced in 2010, and aparently there's split opinions on this game.
Here's a video if you don't know about the game:

From what i see in the video they went and are making the game that they wanted, a tactical action shooter in real time, they seem allways worried about how to player will act and control the partners so the gameplay and settings evolve around this idea.
The first version of 2010 looks really neat too... but it reminds a bit of bioshock for some reason (maybe the setting?).
So what you guys think?

Re: The Bureau: XCOM Declassified
So when this was first announced it was the first game in the X-COM universe in over a decade, and unlike the beloved turn based strategy games it was a squad based FPS. That caused a massive fan backlash, which then subsided when they announced Firaxis was going to do a turn based X-COM game as well. Since then it's mostly fallen off the radar; old X-COM fans are happy because they have a fantastic TBS and they don't care about this one.

Enemy Unknown is amazing. But I was excited when Bureau was a FPS. Third Person, I'm less excited about. But still interested in checking out.

Re: The Bureau: XCOM Declassified
I'm looking forward to it. I prefer the 3rd person perspective over first person, especially in a game where being able to see to command your squad effectively will be important. I'm keeping my eye on it. I'm worried it will turn out to be a generic game with some XCOM style stuff slapped on to it though.
Older. Not wiser.
Re: The Bureau: XCOM Declassified
Seeing that they wanted to implement a heavy cover system then 3rd person is the best way to go.
Every time i enter RPS and they post a article on the game they mention that every time they see more gameplay is more dissapointing.

I never had a chance to play any of the XCOM games before even though I wanted to try Enemy Unknown. Couldn't pass up the Steam preorder offer though.

I'm an hour and a half in. It's... not a great game. Which kind of sucks. I love the setting. I love the XCOM series. It looks fantastic. The story is cool. But the gameplay seems pretty boring so far. I really wish that had gone the FPS-route they had initially planned.
