Saturn Chip with 64 pin IC

Post by sd_dracula »

So I got a another Saturn, this time it's a 64 pin IC.
Followed the guide here: http://www.segastyle.com/model264.html

And the Saturn will boot original games but still detects the CD-R as audio only.
I wonder if the chip is a dud.

The chip:

I wonder if the CD-R backup is to blame.
Burned Destruction Derby @ 12x with ImgBurn.

Sometimes I have to reset it for it to detect the original games.

Anyone have an idea what can be the cause? It was doing the exact same thing with a 32 pin Model 2 PAL version, hence why I think it's the chip's fault.

Quick update:

The Destruction Derby disc seems to not be properly burned.
I have done a copy of Sega Touring Championship EU and that works fine (not from cold boot but after a reset)

Question: is it possible to using action replay on backups? Seems like not, as it gets stuck on Loading... screen.
Would be nice for imports.

AR only let you play other regions. Chip only lets you play burns. You can change the region of a game image before burning.

sd_dracula use Nero for burning Saturn games...........it produces far less C1/C2 errors than Imgburn.

check my ' Scan ' this is the art of burning , btw you cant ' Scan ' with any burner you need a high grade burner to do so.

Which nero version is the best?
Also what write speed do you suggest.

As slow as possible. 4x should be ok I really wouldn't go higher than 12x though. Slower will make more accurate burns. Some newer drives won't go that slow though. I use a old laptop so I can burn at 4X on the occasions I have.
