Found Rez for PS2, should I hold out for the DC version?

Found Rez for PS2, should I hold out for the DC version?

Post by Scooter »

I've been looking for a copy of Rez for some time now but I've focused on the Dreamcast version. The other day I found a copy for PS2 used for $45. Is this version as good as the DC version and is that a reasonable price for it?

TIA

it depends if you value rarity really. the US PS2 version of rez is on the rare side but there isnt rabid demand for the game, so $45 does sound about right. however i think the japanese version offers the best gameplay because of the usb trance vibrator. but if you dont care about extra vibration and want to keep it all neatly on 1 system then i say go for the dreamcast version, which happens to be the least expensive.

I've said it before. The PS2 version is superior here. Going from DC's 30fps to PS2's 60fps was a huge difference. Huge. Most DC to PS2 ports are nasty but not this one.

I'd say go for it.

Well, given how texture light Rez is, I'd be surprised if the PS2 version couldn't hold up to the DC version. Memory architecture limitations are much less likely to rear their ugly head with that style of game.

I bought my copy for $40, so that price is about right.

Okay, I hope the copy I found hangs out until payday which is a little more than a week away.

Is the Trance Vibrator the way to go to play the game? They are all over ebay and I could pick one up easily for around $50. Can it be used on any other games? Is it a glorified mouse with a vibration function?

**EDIT** Okay, I did a Wiki on the Trance Vibrator, looks like it's just a way to get the vibration feedback in a different and more powerful manner. It's not even used to actually play the game? I don't really get what the usefulness of it is then.

Agreed. I've got both and always play the PS2 version. Wonder if that will change when RezHD is released...
