I'm hoping someone here can help me with this issue I have with my Xbox 360. There is no internet connection. It keeps saying to try downloading my profile or troubleshoot the connection if I try to sign in, I can't do either one with no internet period. I plugged in the Ethernet cable I have on my Wii, still no connection! Any ideas on what's wrong with my console or if there is anything I can do to fix this problem?
Thanks!

Are you plugging in to a router? Is the router doing MAC address filtering?

Its plugged into the wall. My router is in the basement, so I can't try plugging the console directly to it.

Have you tried doing the built-in troubleshooting tool? If so, where does it fail?

You need to take it to where you can plug it in directly to eliminate the possibility of it being the connection through the wall that's the issue.RacingGamer5000 wrote:Its plugged into the wall. My router is in the basement, so I can't try plugging the console directly to it.

Re: Xbox 360 not detecting internet connection
You need to provide us with more information:
What type of connection? Ethernet, wireless?
What are you trying to connect to? Router, LAN, switch?
What's in between the 360 and the internet in your set up logistically speaking? Does it daisy chain, is there a switch, are you using powerline adaptors?
Have you ever been able to connect? Yes or No?
If yes, what's changed in your set up since it stopped working?
If no, can you take it somewhere where you can get it to connect, if so, tell us about how you got it to work.
This is information anyone should have in mind before asking for help on the internet. Not trying to be a Charlie Uniform November Tango, but it's impossible to help you without more information. You could be trying to plug a 360 into a hotdog and expecting miracles for all we know.

Hotdogs never work for me, you have to go with the bratwurst.

Re: Xbox 360 not detecting internet connection
I have wireless for my laptop. The Xbox 360 is a wired connection. The wall connection isn't bad as my Wii has internet if its plugged in there. Its not the Ethernet cable, I tried the Ethernet cable I have on the Wii, still nothing. Troubleshooting the connection or downloading my profile, I can't do either of those because the console doesn't detect a connection. This is not a new console, I've had it for several years now. Worked fine one day, following day no internet. Apart from that it still functions, I can play games or watch DVD's on it.

Your first post made it sound like the Wii couldn't get a connection either.
