The Nintendo 64 is the only nintendo console in history which doesnt have a region free mod.. yet (hoping ones made eventually)
I've searched in the past but found no concrete evidence that it's impossible to region free an n64, so i ask you all;
Is it possible to region unlock an n64, if you had all the tools necessary??

Depends on the regions. You can play Japanese games in a USA system, and vice versa, just by removing pins in the cart slot. Same as the SNES. However going to PAL requires a passthrough device.

Isn't the N64 the one which is easy to play import if you just break the casing of the console to fit the different region (and shape) carts?

I do not know of a none disc based console that can do that.LukeLexeme wrote:That's what i mean, i meant an 100% region free mod, pal, ntsc, ntscj!fastbilly1 wrote:Depends on the regions. That's the N64 and the SNES, but it only allows you to play JPN carts on a NA console and vise versa. NTSC SNES and N64 carts use one lockout chip, PAL carts use another.ZeroAX wrote:Isn't the N64 the one which is easy to play import if you just break the casing of the console to fit the different region (and shape) carts?

So would it be possible to solder like, 2 lockout chips to the same n64, and detect which to use?

Nes top loader is region free with a 72 to 62 pin adaptor.fastbilly1 wrote:It is.ZeroAX wrote:Isn't the N64 the one which is easy to play import if you just break the casing of the console to fit the different region (and shape) carts?

Re: Region Free Nintendo 64!
The SNES can. We already discussed how to play NTSC-U/J games, to play PAL you just need to deactivate the lockout chip. To get 100% compatibility, you can install the Super CIC which will auto detect regions and auto switch 50/60Hz for you. This makes the SNES 100% region free.fastbilly1 wrote:I do not know of a none disc based console that can do that.
