Fixing a Sega Saturn Original Controller/Joypad

Post by Riqz85 »

Hey guys. Just recently bougnt a sega saturn and it came with an unfortunately broken controller. The plug was ripped from its wires. You can see in the picture how it's broken.
I want to fix it (seeing how much joypads are going for on ebay these days). Thing is that i'm a beginner at soldering and these don't even look soldered. Maybe they actually got ripped and the bits are still inside their little sockets.

Can anyone lend me a hand with this. how do i proceed and how can i fix this?
any help appreciated.

Those pins in the end had little flaps that were crimped on the ends of the wires. It will be tricky to try to connect to the bit left in the end with those snapped off to close like that.

oh man :( the crimped endings are actually still there... but they just seem like they got pulled off. The ones that are in their places dont look soldered... Did they glue them there??
do you know in what order they go? seems to be 1 too many slots

So i put myself to it and voila! I fixed it hahaha. Jammed those crimped wires right in following the picture below and then soldered them in just to be sure... Pretty amazed with myself. Patting myself on the back here hahaa.

Thanks for all the help guys

Cool. Was hard to tell from the side picture if there was enough left to hold onto. Guess should have asked for another picture. Glad you got it going.
