Am I the only person who thinks Shigeru is a bit of a pompous prick. Don't get me wrong, he has made some great games and saved the video game industry. No one can ever take that away from him. But when he trashes fun, successful games like Donkey Kong Country simply because he didn't make them or says things like, "I could have made Halo" it makes him seem like a guy who thinks a little too highly of himself.

Oh well, at least he's not as annoying as Tomonobu Itagaki or David Jaffe. Nobody's ego is as big as Itagaki's, and David has the maturity of a child. Again, great gamemakers, but I don't like them as people.

Have you watched many video interviews with the man? I have, and every time some blog like destructoid or kotaku run a story on some of these interviews, they take quotes so far out of context or even make up their own quotes that have a bigger impact. They can do this with little risk because it's all being translated, and not spoken directly. I don't know what has crawled under their asses, but they seemed determined to take him down a notch this year.

I agree.

And David Jaffe gets on my nerves. So the man has made Twisted Metal and God of War. I don't see how that makes him much better than a bucketful of other developers.

The guy who has always gotten on my nerves is John Romero. He had some great ideas, once, and never seemed able to repeat that success. I have to wonder if he would have ever amounted to much of anything had he not hooked up with John Carmack in the first place, now THERE'S a guy with some powerful talent. Though it would be good to see Carmack step out of his one-genre environment to see what else he could pull off in the gaming world if he set his mind to it.

I dont have a problem with him because I havent seen him say anything all that bad about anyone else, but if he has, link me. He's living his little dream, so good for him. TM 1-2 AND GOW 1-2 are indeed fantastic. He's not nearly as "wild" as Cliffy B seems to be, but I appreciate his games as well, so I still don't mind.

I dunno if he's said anything bad about others -- just acts like he's one of the greatest ever.
CliffyB, I don't mind. He's a smart guy and even though he can be a little over the top, I've observed a bit more modesty/level-headedness
And yes John Romero is terribly overrated as well.

In my opinion i think developers spend too much time observing other games for influences, That's why there will always be games being compared to "halo", "mario",or "gta" and so forth. as for miyamoto, i saw an interview where he said he used to go to the forest and stare for inspiration. I think that's kinda creepy but damn. miyamoto's games can never be compared to anything else.
