Any good GBA/DS Famiclones out there?

Post by BitFaced »

In the past I've heard of several devices for the GBA/Backwards Compatible DS that let you play Famicom cartridges on them, but I've heard that at least two of them aren't particularly good, or have certain unsatisfactory complications. To wit:

CYBER Familator Lite
-Feeds video to the DS's screen, so may not be available for use on a Game Boy Advance of any kind.
-Sound comes out of the Famiclone adapter itself, rather than the
-NES replication issues:
-Bad video quality (Sprite flickering, noise, washed-out colour)
-Bad sound quality (Out of tune and key)
-Uses own batteries.

Time Machine
-TV signal passed to the Game Boy
-Sound comes out of the Famiclone itself.
-Uses own batteries.

Handy Fami Eight
-Uses batteries.
-Uses built-in speakers
-Uses built on controls.
-Blurry video quality.

But maybe one of these adapters (like the Time Machine) still work fine and I'm just over blowing it. So is there a really good, or at least decently satisfactory GBA Famiclone adapter?
N64/NES/FC/SNES/SFC/GB (SGB)/GBC (Black)(SGB)/FDS/Satellaview/Genesis/Mega Drive/Master System & maybe N64DD/GBC/GBA.

One problem is that the GBA has a lower screen resolution than the NES, so the video will always look wrong. The DS has a higher resolution than the GBA, but it is still lower than the NES in the vertical aspect.

So basically, perfection is unlikely to exist. You are better off finding a good, dedicated handheld famiclone.

You won't find a good solution that works with your GBA or DS (unless you run emulators on your DS).
Cough Link Cough

A better solution would be a dedicated handheld famiclone like the FC Mobile II.
