I'm very interested in the portable title. I'll be getting it for the Vita. The other one I'll have to wait and see that they didn't stray too far from the Rocksteady formula to be interested. We'll see!

Ugh. I would have pre ordered the collectors edition but it's not made by Rocksteady.

Arkham Origins? So...it's a building simulator where you design your own asylum?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Re: Batman: Arkham Origins & Origins Blackgate
I've been talking about this a bit today ... the upshot of my sentiments is Warner Bros. naive insulting marketing tactics can choke and die.
Apparently, they've decided that the Batman video games are now a "Batman Arkham" franchise. And if WB does what WB does ... that'll mean the only Batman games we'll see until they die is Arkham related games ... even .... if they appear to have NOTHING to do with Arkham anything.
Outside of that, the plot details sound good. It's a bit more Batman sounding than the two Rocksteady games. There's a lot of members in this studio who've worked on great games and good licensed games even. I'm not particularly worried about the overall quality of the game. I just think WB marketing needs to GTFO. They do this everywhere regarding comic properties ... it's so aggravating.

I played a few hours of the first and couldn't get into it. The second was more of the same, right? And this one will be again, no?

I'm just kinda bugged that its a prequel.

Well they took every aspect of the first game and refined it and added to it in the second game. It's more of the same yes, but every element improved upon in some way. Basically, a more polished version of the first game. There are two notable differences though. The first game was set up like a Metroid game, while the second one gives a GTA like open world with various side quests. Though it is much smaller in scale than your typical GTA game. Also, the boss fights are actually pretty good, unlike the rather uninspired ones in the first gamedsheinem wrote:I played a few hours of the first and couldn't get into it. Re: Batman: Arkham Origins & Origins Blackgate
I wouldn't really say that Arkham City is more of the same. The overall gameplay is vastly different. Arkham Asylum really played out like ... clear the place room by room. Arkham City is much more open in its approach, there's lots of things to do outside of main missions (side missions in an open world game that actually matter? nonsense)
Really, what they kept from the first was the character abilities, fighting system, things like that ... what they didn't keep was the game structure or way you make your way through. Those are pretty different.
I'm almost done with Arkham City now and I'd say it's vastly better than Asylum ... even though Asylum was a really good game. This game actually lets you be more Batman.
And I agree ... the boss fights overall in Asylum were ... retarded. I mean they were fun in their way, but the way boss fights work in City is much better. It's not relying so much on the super human ooze nonsense.
And letting you be Batman in an open Gotham sounds great ... but again ... prequel franchise tie in BS.

I actually enjoyed the back-tracky style of the first game more than the open world checklist sort've feel of the second. Asylum felt a bit more focused. Though the final boss is dumb. Regardless I really liked both games.Gamerforlife wrote:Well they took every aspect of the first game and refined it and added to it in the second game. I've gotta say I'm more curious about the handheld game though, specifically the 3DS version.
