Saturn Trouble reading recognizing disc consistantly

Post by mattyboy79 »

Hi

Just recieved my chip and installed it into white oval button JAP saturn.

The trouble i am having is my burnt discs are only been recognized 4-5 times out of 10. Also when i try to load a game through avtion replay all i get is the action replay saying LOADING......

I guess this has to do with the disc recognizing fact.

The discs that do load are 2 different games which i changed the region code in the iso to work with my region saturn. I was wondering if the mod chip could be causing this.

I took my mod chip to be installed by a console repairer/modder as i am not good with that sort of stuff.

Thing is i dont have and originals to test with atm , they will be coming in a few days. They are NTSC format games so i will have to use action replay for those ones.

What i am wondering is what should i do next as i dont know what actions to take.

Is there anything installation wise from the mod chip which can maybe cause this to happen. The thing is sometimes they recognize fine.

thanks appreciate your help..

hi mattyboy , your description of your model Saturn throws me off.........please select which one it is from the site below.

also what sort of burner and media are you using , i found with my nasty Pioneer burners my Dreamcast would come up with a error message and not boot.

so i got some help and self taught myself ' the art of burning ' , i got 4 Liteon burners and the error message in my Dreamcast is gone.

Hst - 3220, off white jap saturn.

As I said it only recognises about 3-4 out of 10 times.

I don't have any original jsp saturn games to test with bit will have some ntsc USA ones soon.

Atm I am burning using image burn and tried sony/tdk cds.

Think it may be the mod chip or maybe something else.

What should my next step be, changi;g media/burning program?

I have not had any issues with my dreamcast at all just the Saturn.

Thanks for reply I'm hoping I can get it sorted. Not sure whether to take it back to the bloke who installed the mod or not?

As I said it only recognises about 3-4 out of 10 times.

this could be caused by different things , i would go through a elimination process and try different fixes.

one being cleaning the Lens with Isopropyl Alcohol

Atm I am burning using image burn and tried sony/tdk cds.

Taiyo Yuden at this point in time are best for DC/SS/PSX , if you are going to get some dont buy them from ebay as they will be counterfeit.

Ask at ClubmyCE forums for sources

btw what is your burn speed for Dreamcast and Saturn ?

What should my next step be, changi;g media/burning program?

i would switch media and burning program use Nero for Saturn it produces a better burn than IMGburn.

also if your going to switch to better media its only going to be as good as your burner.

if you want to find out if your burner is good go to ClubmyCE forums and ask there.........

Awesome I will try Nero and some different media.

Any chance it could be the mod chip, I got it from here. Or would you think more media/burning problem

I read there were 2 ways of installing.

So is Nero the best to burn. Bin. Cue files?

I did get a error that the disc could not be read but the next time it worked.

Love any more help at all. I will try after work.
