Thinking of soft Modding my Wii. I have questions.

Post by SamuraiMegas »

I have been wanting to soft mod my wii, my main problem is I am confused and internet has been spotty.
First: I have updated my Wii to the update that came with Kirby's Dream Collection, what firmware is this and what do I need to download for it?
2: Do I need internet on my Wii?
Last question: Is the process very time consuming?

Follow this guide:

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/19/how-t ... n-america/

it's what i used, and it led me to other mods after figuring it out, make sure to use Prii-loader so you can be region-free and block-updates from discs and online.

Easiest method imo.

Will probably have to download the files and transfer though SD, not sure on that one, never did it without wifi/cable.

But your going to NEED a SD card to mod it anyways.

No idea what firmware came with Kirby's... at this point you just want to put it on the latest firmware and go.

I don't THINK you need internet on the Wii but I'm not positive.

Basic softmodding takes next to no time, you might need to fiddle around a little bit to get it to exactly where you want...

I think ModMii (google - I'm at work, most stuff's blocked here for me) will still do everything 100% for you. It's what I used, and I'm on 4.3 which I think is the latest firmware

I just used the letterbomb method, which only requires an SD card. No game disc or internet on the Wii required.

I've done the mod 5 times now, and it takes me between 30-40 minutes each time.

I believe the guide I used was posted by Maui Frog on WiiHacks. You should be able to find it with just a bit of searching.

Hope this helps!

My SD card is a action replay one with a ton of saves. It's more than two gigs.

Download ModMii, run it, let it package everything up for you. Copy to SD card, use exploit of your choosing, done! Quick and painless.
