How do you deal with people that loiter?

Post by JC48573 »

There's a Taco Bell I go to and there's a young man that sits on one of the tables late at night not ordering anything. One of the employees just got really angry at the young man and started cussing at him with the N word. The young man went outside to make a phone call as if the whole situation was funny to him. From the worker's reaction, it appears this young man has been doing this for quite some time. He is still doing this even after that. I'm concerned because I don't want people to get hurt. This young man carried a backpack with him tonight.

You never know what people are going to do, so the safest thing would be to ignore him, go in the back room and call the police. Let them deal with him.

1) The employee who used racial slurs should be fired.

2) How often do you sit down and eat at taco bell?

3) Use the drive-thru.

4) Don't get involved. It's not your business.

I agree with Luke. The employee's response was improper. He should have asked the young man to leave and, if he refused to do so, then he should have called the police.

You should simply leave the restaurant and not return until they have resolved the problem (or ever...T. Bell is pretty gross).

I would say never, ever, use racial, sexist... any offensive language towards the person - that employee should've face some discipline for using the word.

If you are just a third party in that situation - with no connections to either the employees at that Taco Bell, or that person, you should not get involved. Unless that person is threatening you, you should let the employees take care of it.

If the guy isn't bothering anyone, and there's still tables available for other people to sit at, then who cares? I say leave him alone and let him sit.

And yeah, the employee was out of line. Unless the guy did something first that you're leaving out.

the young man must have said something, but I don't know what he said. The worker who got angry unprofessionally is normally nice when he takes our order. Yes, the worker is African American and yes the young man is Caucasian.

I gotta agree that this is none of my business, so I've decided not to go there anymore just to stay away from trouble. If this was an ongoing problem, I figured that they would've called the cops by now. Keep in mind that this kid usually shows up very late at night and leaves until it closes. Then again, I really don't know how cops in the US deal with loitering because we all know how it is over here as you can be imprisoned for very little things depending on the state.
