What should we add to the TurboGrafx 16 101 Guide?

Post by racketboy »

Just like I recently did with the Saturn guide, I want to expand and spruce up the TG16 101 guide.

Other than pictures, what in particular do you think we should add?

If you can write full sentences or paragraphs that I could use in the post itself, that would be most helpful

Here's what we have so far:

Here's some good examples of newer posts to get inspiration from:

Needs pictures of all the Japanese, American, and PAL variants.

Breetai's thread has some really good info.

I'd like some mention of the PAL system. I know it's just a modified US system, but it seems most dont know it exists, and yet they dont seem too uncommon on ebay UK.

That's for the better. A warning to avoid is the most it deserves now.
No in-game purpose except for outdated TVs, with literally zero known game development.

It's a much more affordable alternative for some of us, and I can run it without having to use step down transformers and stuff. Just a simple, very brief mention would do.

An in depth bit about all the different system cards for the Turbo CD/ PCE-CD is something that'd be appreciated too, I always get confused about those.

Edit: It's also worth pointing out that there are in fact a few TGCD games on virtual console nowadays, I'm assuming there weren't at the time of the article being written.

Let's see... A convenient way of storing loose hucards is to use the acrylic and cardboard storage boxes used by MtG and Pokemon players, as well as the binder pages used by many sports card collectors.

Some trivia concerning the CD-ROM interface: I believe it uses a subset of the SCSI protocol.

Are you planning on replacing large swaths of text? If not, I need to edit/clean up some of it, since some of the sentences are a little rough. I'm working two jobs now, but I could write up a whole new emulation section. What I wrote back then was completely wrong, and is even more wrong now.

Also, the TG-16 homebrew scene is actually pretty active, so I need to mention that and some of the games that are currently for sale. There are two new flash cards out for the system, as well.

What is the timetable for this and when should prospective materials be submitted? Also, I'd love to rewrite large portions of this, but I cannot do pictures. Despite the stuff I know, I have only a lonely PCE core unit. I will need others to supply pictures.

I can probably take care of the photos.
I'm flexible on timeline, but I was aiming for a month from now

I have a pretty good boxed collection going too, so I might be able to do pictures of certain games if needed.
