Sorry if this thread already exists. I figured it had to in this forum, but I did a search and went a few pages back and didn't see it.
-Castlevania 64 & Legacy of Darkness (N64) - Never did have an N64 back in the day. It's a system that I've been retroactively exploring, since I owned a PS1 then a Dreamcast back then. These are 2 games on the N64 that hasn't found their way to my collection yet. I've heard both great things, and bad things about the game so I'm curious to discover them on my own, since I'm a Castlevania fan.
-Chrono Cross (PS1) - Loved Chrono Trigger on SNES, never have played this sequel.
-The Elder Scrolls: Arena & Daggerfall (PC) - I didn't discover the Elder Scrolls games until I played Morrowind on XBox (original). I know they're free to download on Bethesda's website. And I have done so. But I can't get the dang things to run on Windows 8. I absolutely adore Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. So I'd love to be able to experience the series' roots.
-Final Fantasy VI - It is in my collection, as I've recently acquired it via Final Fantasy Anthology and it is high on my backlog of games to play, so soon it shall be played.
-Magic Knight Rayearth (Saturn) - A fantastic looking shoot-em up that just looks stunning. I want to play it so bad, but the price is so high.
-Panzer Dragoon: Zwei (Saturn) - I love the first Panzer Dragoon game, and I enjoyed Panzer Dragoon: Orta even more. This is the only one in the main series I haven't played. And I've heard from many PD fans that it's the best entry in the series.
-Panzer Dragoon: Saga (Saturn) - I don't ever see myself playing this one as it's just too dang far out of my price range. I'll never pay $200 for a single video game. And I don't pirate games.
-Parasite Eve 2 (PS1) - Never did get this game when it was new, and now I just haven't come across it again.
-Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth (N64) - I'm a big shoot-em up fan, and I have been for a very long time. That love started with the original Star Soldier on NES. It was among the first games I got with my NES way back in 1989. This particular entry in the series I have never played. And a shoot-em up on the N64 at all is a rare thing. So I'm quite curious about this game.
-X-Men: Ravages of Apocalypse (PC) - An old PC game that uses the Quake engine that I remember seeing ads for in comics books that I've always wanted to try out.

You might want to check your wording or possibly the game itself out again.

Re: What Are Some Old Games You Never Got To Play?
Hmm... I'll try to think of ones I never got to play, wanted to, and probably will not play in the near future.
Chrono Cross (PS1): I specifically remember renting this game, but never getting a chance to play it. I had tons of homework, and had just bought another game the week before. Returned it and never touched it again. Maybe some day.
Contra (series): Kids always talked about it, never bought any of the games and it was never available for rent.
Shadowrun (Genesis/SNES): My friend had this game, but wouldn't ever let me play it. I always wanted to try it for myself, but haven't.
Demon's Crest (SNES): See above. I saw this game shortly after playing the Ghosts'n Goblins for the first time. Was intrigued, but never found it on my own. My friend was a dick, considering I shared ALL of my games with him...
Typing of the Dead: I played "House of the Dead" in the Arcade and LOVED it. I saw this quirky game on the (dial up) Internet and always wanted to give it a try. Somehow I had a keyboard with my Dreamcast, but I don't remember how I got it...
Sega Saturn: This was the only gaming system I wanted as a kid and didn't get. It was too expensive, and it made it just that much more appealing. I remember hanging out in the mall playing the demo games until I got kicked off. I bought my first Saturn a week before Katrina from Game Trader, never even got to put in my copy of Panzer Dragoon.
There weren't many games that I wanted to play that I didn't at least get to try. I was allowed to rent a game once a week(or every other week) as long as my grades were good. The guy who owned the video store let me select games I wanted out of the magazines, and I usually bought them from him when they stopped getting rented.

Re: What Are Some Old Games You Never Got To Play?
A whole bunch... I didn't play any games during my late high school and college years so I mostly missed out on the 5th and 6th gen.
For starters I've never played those shmups y'all are always talking about. DoDonPachi, Radiant Silvergun - never played them.
I haven't played a Street Fighter game released after part II. Same goes for Mortal Kombat.
For whatever reason, I missed out on the Castlevania series back in the day and never caught up with it. I've only played a little bit of the first one on an emulator. Never played II or III. Never played Dracula X or Symphony of the Night. I do own some N64, Xbox, and GBA titles - but that's it.
I've haven't touched an Amiga since elementary school. Never even played a "real" game on it, just edutainment stuff.
I've only played Atari 5200 and 7800 once in my life (at PAX East). I've never seen or played a Lynx.
I'm sure I'll think of tons more stuff later.

Re: What Are Some Old Games You Never Got To Play?
The list would be huge. Here's my system-owning history pre-adulthood:
Atari 2600 -> SNES/Gameboy -> PS2 (college) -> Xbox (grad/professional school).
So I missed almost everything on NES, Genesis, N64, PSX, Saturn, and Dreamcast.
Make a list?

Then I'm thinking of another game. Now I'm not sure what it was. Some shoot-em up on Saturn, that wasn't space-ship shooter, had an almost fantasy setting, and was very bright and colorful.8bit wrote:BurningDoom wrote: -Magic Knight Rayearth (Saturn) - A fantastic looking shoot-em up that just looks stunning. No, that's the cutesy witch one, right? Not into cute-em ups.dunpeal2064 wrote:Cotton?
I think the characters you controlled either had some crazy looking armor, or were some sort of dragons.
