Original Xbox mod chip
Where can I get one of these? Soft modding looks way to complicated and I'd rather do a chip.

Re: Original Xbox mod chip
Honestly unless your wanting to play burned xbox games if you want simple just softmod a wii the only thing the xbox does better is PS1 and the Wii plays Gamecube games, also being able to use your wiimote as a light gun in games like duck hunt is awesome. It seems like the xbox emulation scene is pretty much dead.

Re: Original Xbox mod chip
I have done many mod chip installations before - most were easy for me to do, but I found the xbox one very difficult. When I found out how much easier the softmod is compared to what I had to go through for the hard mod I almost wish I hadn't hard modded it - I hate flow-over chips where you have to blob solder onto the board below through holes.
'Course it was because I ordered the deluxe xecuter chip with an external bank-switching dip switch and stuff. Completely unnecessary; the VGA bios didn't work for me so I ended up with the same results as a softmod except the bootup animation is branded "Team Xecuter ROX my BOX".
modchip.ca seems to have them. I thought they were liquidating and shut down (at least that's what it said in an email last year)...
edit2: They really are shut down. Just old pages still on the server.

Modchip dot org still have some, if I recall correctly.
But, mind you, soldering a modchip onto an Xboxs' mobo can be quite a feat. Getting that solder point d0 is quite a b...
I did it many times, but I also killed an Xbox once while doing that and had to replace it for the customer, haha.
Anyway, as the other dudes said, a softmod would probably suffice. There are plenty of guides on the net for you to look at.

Re: Original Xbox mod chip
Similar to you, I had no problem with the xbox modchip installation except for the d0 point. I did find an alternate d0 point that was a bit easier to do but it was still a challenge.Vkins wrote: But, mind you, soldering a modchip onto an Xboxs' mobo can be quite a feat. Re: Original Xbox mod chip
Soft modding the original Xbox is extremely easy. You could get someone to mail you the memory card with the files on it.
