Gotta pre-order to get the OST.
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner Soul Hackers (3DS)

Anyone else interested in this? Looks pretty enticing to me! A bit different than Persona 4, which I recently completed, but I can't wait to try it.

this looks interesting, this was originally on the sega saturn right?

It looks a lot like Strange Journey, another Shin Megami Tensei dungeon exploration game I already have but still need to beat. If I didn't have Strange Journey in my backlog I'd be all over Soul Hackers.
Remember how game publishers subtitled their games with the initials DS (Deadly Silence, Dawn of Sorrow, etc.)? With Devil Summoner it happens naturally.

I saw this the other day and thought it looked interesting. What ties SMT games together exactly?

They all relate to the occult and demon summoning in some way/shape/form. I really thought that it was a nice touch in Devil Survivor that the summoning tool was a DS
Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner Soul Hackers (3DS)
Really nothing much ties SMT games together. Some are vaguely related (like they take place after the same universe starts over) but overall they're self contained stories. Gameplay elements do carry over though, namely recruiting and fusing demons as party members.

Kind of like Final Fantasy then. I admit I'll be sad to not play any more games with the characters from Persona 4, it was quite fun.

Here are the explicit connections I know of:Dylan wrote:Really nothing much ties SMT games together. SMT I & II: II is a storyline sequel set 50 or 100 years after the first game
Persona 1 & 2: Persona 2 is in the same universe as Persona 1, and one or two of the party members of Persona 1 show up in Persona 2
Persona 3 & 4: Again, same universe stuff. In Persona 4 you take a trip to the area where Persona 3 took place and there are a few references to the events of Persona 3. When P3P came out it added in some ties to Persona 4
Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2: Direct storyline sequel, same characters are in both.
Devil Summonr Raido Kuzunoha games: These are also storyline sequels

Is this the island that they go to on a class trip?MrPopo wrote:Persona 3 & 4: Again, same universe stuff. In Persona 4 you take a trip to the area where Persona 3 took place and there are a few references to the events of Persona 3. When P3P came out it added in some ties to Persona 4.
