Does anyone know where to get a Saturn S-video cable?
What happened? These things used to be relatively common and only about $15-20 -- now every distributor is sold out! I'm not really the sort to make my own cables, but now that my s-video cable seems to have some interference resulting in diagonal lines scrolling across the screen (inconsistently), I'm really starting to itch for a replacement.

They stopped being made, unfortunately. Occasionally a small amount are modded using regular Saturn cables but they disappear quite quickly.
I have a set I may be willing to sell you for a less outrageous price.

Thank you kindly! Although I found that the issue may be with my television itself, so I'm experimenting with a knock-off Chinese upscaler. If this doesn't pan out, I would be more than willing to do business with you!

You could add jacks to your console like this:

Adding jacks will allow you to use much better quality cables than 99% of the ones you can buy. It'll cost you a lot less, too.
Just know that if you do this, or try and make your own cables, that the pinout on GameSX does indeed have audio L and R reversed.

I bought my saturn s-video cable from the racketboy store.

I can't imagine making your own cables would be hard, Saturn AV out is just an 8-pin mini-DIN jack after all.

Probably wouldn't be difficult, I've just never really done it before -- but come to think of it, whenever I find time I'd be more than willing to learn! I've been building computers to make money on the side lately, and I've generally been driven to become handier with electronics.
Could someone point me to a walkthrough?

Do you have any documentation on this? Google searching isn't seeming to get me any where but frustrated.
Also, why did you choose that spot for you audio & s-video ports?

I wish that were true, but it might actually be the reason why Saturn S-Video cables are hard to come by right now. It's a non-standard 10-pin mini-DIN.

Seemed like the best spot to me. I didn't want to mount them to the battery door, and I hate side mounted jacks, so that basically left me with where I put them. In retrospect, I didn't take into consideration that the cart slot is right there so I had a little trouble putting it back together. I had to trim the positive leads on the RCA jacks, now there's just enough room for a cart to be inserted.

Yep, and good effing luck finding them. Last time I looked into making saturn s-video cables, the parts alone were probably $20+ not counting labor to make the cable or shipping costs. It's way more economical at this point to just add an s-video jack to the back of the console for a couple of bucks, but you have to be good at soldering.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
