Merlin's Apprentice game causing a General Protection Fault.
Merlin's Apprentice game causing a General Protection Fault.
I have this old game that use to run on my Windows 98 computer. I can't tell you the exact specs as I no longer have that computer and I only recently found the game again. So when I tried to play the game Merlin's Apprentice I got an error message saying that the game caused a General Protection Fault in module <unknown> and then it gives me different numbers each time after it. I tried running the game in Win 98 compaibility mode, but that didn't help. Has anyone else had this problem or know someone who did who got the game to play? Any suggestions would be great. ^^ Thanks.

your doing this on a WinXP machine?
There is actually a thread just a few down from this one going on about getting 98 games to play on XP. Not all of them work that well as XP is based on the NT system instead of on the old DOS system of 3.1, 95 and 98 (amongst a few other types, those 3 are your most common versions of Windows 9x).
There are several DOS emulators and the sort out there, but not all of them work with games made for 98. Other options include a virtual PC on your XP machine with 98 installed (you need an actual 98 install disk for this). Go check out the thread, or you can...
