I'm just curious on what's the average amount of retro and current gen console everyone has or should have. I don't think not many people just only one console anymore in 2013. Maybe back in the past but not now. I believe that everyone has gone back into retro to remember systems as a kid so I think everyone should at least have 2 retro consoles and 1 current gen system. A system when you were a kid maybe last gen system as a teen or even earlier and have one now.
I own a nes, a genesis, ps2, dreamcast, and my kids have the wii and ps3. I also own a psp but that's also my kids.
What's your thoughts on this thread? Do you this that's about right having a retro and a current system in every household? Feel free to share your thoughts. Thanks.

Should, as in obligated? None. Most people don't care about retro gaming, and non collectors can play old games via emulators, compilations, virtual console and by using digital distribution services such as GOG.mas wrote:I'm just curious on what's the average amount of retro and current gen console everyone has or should have.
You do realize that there is a limited stock of retro consoles, that will only decrease over time (while population will continue grow)? We collectors should be thankful about that, less demand there is the cheaper old consoles and games are. There aren't enough consoles to cover the whole population.
Who's everyone? That bolded part of the sentence is just stupid.mas wrote:I believe that everyone has gone back into retro to remember systems as a kid so I think everyone should at least have 2 retro consoles and 1 current gen system.

Most people I know sell their old systems as soon as they get new ones. Heck they usually sell the old system and games to fund purchasing the next one.

Everyone should have one or two retro systems.....boxed up in the attic that they randomly come across a decade later and then sell to me for super cheap.....

Everyone i know has a current gen system and went out and bought a retro system because they miss playing the old games of when they were kids. Every time i go to my retro store they are always running out of snes, nes and n64.

Re: What amount of retro consoles should every household hav
This makes no sense. I have all the new consoles. I was born as a PS and PS2/Xbox player. You said you should have a system from your childhood that's retro (before you say the ps1 is retro, I didn't like it when I was younger so I didn't play it much) and those aren't exactly retro. I have those systems but I don't fit into the thread's description. Does that mean I don't have the right systems, or good enough games?

Samurai: Who's to consider what's retro and what isn't? That's a fairly subjective concept.

Thank you blue. I am just stating that people today have more than just one system and everyone I know has a current and a classic system from the past.Blu wrote:Samurai: Who's to consider what's retro and what isn't? That's a fairly subjective concept.
