Questions about an LG tv

Post by RCBH928 »

My family's TV is an LG 55LM7610

it has this on the back:

where all 3 component wires goes into 1 plug (in green above) . Does this gives you true component? Where doe the audio wires (red&white) go in?

I also would like to hear your overall opinion on this tv, here is its website from LG:

The green cable is not a RCA connector, it has the pins separating the three signals inside. The audio input is the other plugs to the left.

My guess is that you plug the audio into the audio ins next to the composite input there.

It's kinda strange that they're using that weird green plug there, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be 'true component'. It's probably a special kind of 1/8" plug designed to carry 3 signals instead of 2.

Fake edit: Pretty much what CRT said.

The single connection is a cost cutting and space saving connection in the back. The silly thing is the adapter cable still has all the leads going up to it which does not cut down on the amount of cables snaking up in front or inside the wall. Though not a signal shielding issue I hate them, RCA is more durable.

@ kingmohd - Be sure to zip tie the cables with a little slack so the weight is off that single connection.

Most have the 1/8" plug design, the contacts inside have to hit just right on every pin.

Others have a return to the SVideo type of connector, but with more pins that can break off.

thanks for replying, I have seen some that end up in HDMI connector I thought it was just an adapter that will not take a true component signal and will just output SD .

no one expressed his opinion in the tv overall?

Fun fact: that type of connector is called a mini-DIN. They come in a variety of pin configurations. The typical s-video connector is one variation of it, other variations include the AV ports of the Sega Saturn and Model 2 Sega Genesis, and ps/2 ports on computers. :P

Turbografx controllers plug into a regular DIN connector, not a mini-DIN.

Sorry yes, I think it is the PCEngine that has the mini.

I think the Turbo Duo uses mini-DIN. I had to use an adapter to use the original Turbo controllers on it.
