Stupid RF Question

Post by SpaceBooger »

I recently purchased one of these to hook up my NES to an old 10 inch color TV (which is now on my dresser across from my bed, just like my first NES was):

It says it works for the Genesis too, but it does not have the same s-video looking connector as my model 2 does. Anyone know how this is supposed to hook to a genny, because everything I know tells me it can't. So someone please get my back.

They probably just mean the model 1 Genesis, which has the same RF out plug as the NES/SNES.

That is what I was thinking, but do not have a M1...

Yup, what Queso said. It would also work for a SMS and TG as well. I just dug up a Gen m2 RF box for Harper the other week, but I don't have another to spare. Surely someone here has one they'll send your way for cheap though.

I think I have one, but I'd have to dig it up. Maybe tomorrow night if someone hasn't already found one.

Curious, though - why RF and not composite?

Based on the description of the TV it probably doesn't have composite inputs. It might even be one of those really old ones that has the two screw terminals for the inputs.

It has the screws and a coax input. I'll start looking for a rf adapter.

On a few lucky TVs the NES RF box can work for even Famicom.

I'm not sure I'd waste time with Genesis. Its video encoding is infamously horrid.
Lum fan.

This is a 10 inch TV. Most of the video flaws will be condensed enough to not matter a lot. Bedroom use on a little TV is just going to be for grins anyway, not serious gaming. I think Space Booger knows what he's in for. It'll be fine.
