Bought any Dreamcast games online?

Post by santanime »

Hey guys, I love my dreamcast, but I can't find any good games in my neighbourhood. It's so bad I've been reduced to buying online exclusively. That's never been an issue with my snes and other cartridge-based systems, but I get the feeling that there's a bigger risk of damaging the game when it comes to CDs. In fact, the only game I've bought online, skies of arcadia, is seriously damaged.

How has your experience been with online shopping of DC games? Is there a risk? Is the risk worth taking? Is there an alternative? I need answers.

Disc based games are more easily damaged if not properly packed. I have bought disc games from here, where the members place a bit of paper or bubble wrap inside the case to keep a disc in check. As in any sales, go with sellers that have a lot of good feedback.

Personally, I've never had a problem with Dreamcast games from JJGames or eStarland. All arrived in great shape - whether they were complete or disc-only.

Haven't had ant issues with DreamCast games, but with that said, I did have an issue with a Saturn game. it looked like it might have been dropped and then Stepped on crushing the case, inserts and disc . i notified the seller was sent another CIB copy after providing him, w/pictures of the game, case and package.

*Note* personal rule of mine, I only buy from sellers with high marks

I buy disc based stuff online all the time. Really, you don't need much to keep a jewel case safe, even a bubble mailer will do fine.

As long as the person you're buying from isn't a cheapass on the packaging, you should be fine. I've bought hundreds of CD based games, music, etc.

Heck, nearly all of my Saturn games were purchased online, and the only case I have that has damage is the one game I actually bought locally! Though most sellers shipping out Saturn games should already know to pack those well.

I'll say nearly 3/4 of my Dreamcast collection has been off eBay. All my games were in the condition described (cases & discs), and pictures always help before buying.

Thanks for the tip. I think I'll stick to legitimate stores instead of random sellers. When I bought Skies, it was from a guy selling it for half price of it's value from places like JJGames. That probably has a lot to do with the quality it came in...

I purchase my games from sellers through Amazon.co.uk,i have had no problems but the Dreamcast does have the most fragile game box case hinges i can think of so i would not be that shocked or dissapointed if i received a broken case, the last game i purchased was Ferrari F335 Challenge for £1.49 8) and it was received in good condition.

I live near eStarland. They recently opened a new location that is much bigger, but further away from me. Their staff is great. Only complaint is they are slow in person.
