How would you answer this question? Is it even valid? I mean video gaming is only just a slice of the much bigger entertainment pie, right?

My answer for this person would be is to not let it consume your whole existence and to just appreciate it for what it is. There's so much that you can appreciate about video gaming. Maybe its a good thing that this person decided to take a step back. Now, maybe they can begin to enjoy some other things that life has to offer.


Edit: I'm not trying to bring anyone down or offend here because I too have come to appreciate the art and culture that is video gaming.

That's my reason as well. I'm such a sucker for good story telling. I see it being more like an interactive novel depending on some games and their storylines.
