Super Mario World (NES) gfx hack

Post by elmacbee »

Hello!
I'd like to introduce my new project: a graphics hack of Super Mario World (NES).
All I have to show right now is a video comparing old and new title screens:

More updates soon! Hope you like it! :D

Oh wow! It's been a while since I tried SMW on NES, but it looks like you fixed the colors a lot. It looks much better. -Just watched YouTube video- Yeah, it definitely looks like it would be a lot more enjoyable now. Good work!

Be sure to keep us posted! I'm definitely interested in a final version!

Looks really cool. I've been wondering how difficult it would be to take old black and white gameboy games and add colour to them, unfortunately, it doesn't seem easy.

Older games are better

Fixed that for ya.

Just real quick, for any one that's interested... Most of us are aware of the NES PowerPak from Retro Zone that has been available for a while now. Kirkzz now has a Famicom flash cart out, and I've heard that a NES version of it is right around the corner. Also, Retro Zone is coming out with a new version of the PowerPak some time soon. So, lot's of great flash cart options for the NES these days!

While id love a SNES or N64 flash cart and finding as many ways to play a game as possible, they are too expensive for my tastes, $100+ for these is nuts! and it still cant play Super Mario RPG...

Yeah, I hear ya, they can be pretty expensive. It seems like there's a fairly big mark up from retailers for some of them. But they can be worth the money. If you consider the cost of some of the more expensive games, plus the ability to play fan translations and hacks (like the one in this thread), they can more than pay for themselves. At least, that's how I feel about it.
