Amazon Prime, worth it?

Post by Xeogred »

Wonder if anyone here is tied to this service? Considering I buy pretty much anything and everything from amazon all the time thesedays, I wonder if it'd be beneficial down the long road. I can say I'm not that antsy about shipping speeds or anything, I can usually wait and shipments rarely take that long for me and that's been the case for years (but the two day thing wouldn't "hurt" at all either). But would this maybe knock off the price on a lot of things or anything like that?

I remember accidentally being tricked into signing up several years ago (it was newer and the way they integrated it was weird) and was charged $100 or something, I was pissed and got my money back haha. But now I am kind of considering it, if there's any positives to being a pretty active buyer and all.

Honestly I haven't looked too into it lol, so thought I'd ask first.

If you buy a lot of stuff sold by Amazon themselves, and not third parties selling on Amazon, it's probably worth it. Free next day deliver is very nice, and you'll probably make your money back if you're a regular buyer. Even if you just break even, you've managed to get next day delivery at no extra cost.

If you're a Kindle owner, you can get lots of free e-Books too, but that obviously won't apply to everybody.

As far as I know, that's about it. Probably best to work out how much you think you spend on postage with Amazon every year and see if it works out.

I know a few people that use it as a Netflix streaming replacement. Amazon and Netflix have a lot of the same content. I have it because I live in the boonies and it saves me a ton on shipping with the things I can't get in stores here.

Also if you have access to an .edu email address, you can get it for free for a year however you don't get the streaming video. After the first year you can then buy it for half price and you get access to the streaming video. Just Google "Amazon Student"

The free 2 day shipping pays for itself if you use it fairly often. I love prime.

It's definitely worth it.

Just for the 2 day shipping deal, once you order stuff that ends up costing around $80 in shipping, its paid for itself.

Plus, you'll find yourself shifting even more of your buying onto Amazon when you realize you can buy single items that cost $2 and get it in two days with free shipping.

This. To me the biggest deal is that you don't have to do a minimum purchase to get free shipping. I buy a TON of stuff from Amazon now. The free 2-day is great and if you're really in a hurry, $4 for overnight is a pittance.

Their streaming service has actually become pretty good now too and that's just the icing on the cake.

I mean seriously. That post right there should be on the front page of Amazon as a "Reason to get our service."

I love Prime and Instant. I have Netflix as well, but if it came down to it, I'd probably keep Prime over Netflix.

Get it! I've been slacking off on renewing my subscription, and no matter what from the biggest car parts to the smallest cartridge, the 2-day shipping is spot on.

Yep exactly I've been using it for a year now and it's worth it if you order stuff on Amazon enough. 8)
